Child-Centered Play Therapy

Allison offers individual therapy for clients as young as 2 years old, and she utilizes Child Centered Play therapy (CCPT). This is a non-directive play therapy approach that is evidenced based, well researched, and proven effective.

Directive Play Therapy

Allison may also utilize directive play therapy, in which the therapist may lead the session and integrate therapist lead techniques or strategies.

Smiling Family

Family Play Therapy

Family Play Therapy involves one or more children from the same family and possibly others in the family, such as parents, siblings, or grandparents. It can help a family adjust to changes, communication difficulties, behavioral problems, among other challenges. Family Play Therapy can strengthen the family system, repair or rebuild relationships, and build resilience.

Filial Therapy

Filial therapy includes both the child and parent present in session. During filial sessions, the therapist teaches the parent to offer a child led play experience. Filial therapy can strengthen the parent-child relationship and lead to positive growth for the child.

Child Parent Relationship Therapy

Allison provides curriculum-based counseling for parents with children ages two to 12 who are hoping to improve limit setting, communication, and strengthen relationships.

During CPRT, only the parents are present in session. The therapist works with the parents to become the therapeutic change agent for their child and teaches the parents how to offer child led/nondirective playtime at home.

Child Parent Relationship Therapy, or CPRT, is both proven and effective. CPRT was created by Dr. Garry Landredth, and Allison Swisher completed her CPRT training with Dr. Landredth. This experience enhanced her CPRT sessions. She is all the more qualified to provide this service to her clients, alongside her similarly effective play therapy sessions.

Mindfulness

Allison often incorporates mindfulness exercises into her work with clients. Mindfulness is a type of meditation that has been proven to reduce anxiety and stress, improve attention and sleep, relax the body, and can provide many other benefits. Mindfulness is for clients of all ages!

Allison provides family therapy for concerned parents hoping to improve communication and reduce conflict with their children. She utilizes her training and experience to help families navigate daily life struggles that interfere with quality family time.
